What this is
Coach is a private, single-user application. It exists to help one person — its operator — understand their own sleep, activity and training data and to plan their workouts. It is not a product, it is not offered to the public, and it has no users other than the account holder who installed it.
What data it accesses
With your explicit consent, Coach reads the following from your Google Account through the Google Health API:
- Sleep — sleep sessions, stages and timing.
- Activity and fitness — workouts, steps, distance, heart rate, heart-rate variability, active minutes and energy expenditure.
- Health metrics — resting heart rate, respiratory rate, blood-oxygen saturation, skin-temperature deviation and body measurements you have recorded.
- Profile — age and the unit and time-zone settings needed to interpret the above.
- Location — GPS traces attached to outdoor workouts, used only to show the route of a workout you recorded.
Coach also stores what you tell it directly: workouts you log, subjective check-ins, goals, injuries and preferences.
Coach requests read-only access. It does not request permission to modify or delete anything in your Google Account.
Where the data goes
All of it is stored on a single private server controlled by the operator. It is not shared with anyone, not sold, not used for advertising, not used to train any model, and not transferred to any third party — with one exception, stated plainly:
The assistant feature sends your health data to Anthropic. When you ask the in-app coach a question, the relevant figures from your own data are sent to Anthropic's API so the assistant can answer. Anthropic processes them under its own terms and does not use API data to train models. If you do not want your data leaving the server, do not use the assistant; every other part of the application works without it.
How long it is kept
Indefinitely, because the value of the application is the long-term record — trends only appear over months. Nightly backups are kept for fourteen days. You can delete the database or any part of it at any time; it is your server.
Your control
- Withdraw access at any time at myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party apps. Revoking access stops all further data collection immediately.
- Delete stored data by deleting the local database, or by asking the operator.
- Withdrawing access does not delete data already collected; deletion is a separate step.
Security
Credentials and access tokens are stored with restrictive file permissions on the server and are never committed to source control. Access to the application requires signing in through the operator's identity provider. The server is not open to the public internet except where explicitly published, and the connection is encrypted.
Limited use
Coach's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through the Google Health API is used solely to provide the user-facing features described above, is not transferred except as stated in this policy, and is not used for advertising or sold to anyone.
Children
Coach is not intended for anyone under 18 and is not offered to children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version replaces this page and the date above is updated.
